How are we doing with the new year detox? Found new energy and vitality or finding you’re about to fall off the wagon?
With January being the start of a health kick for many, we often begin with a detox to give us quick results for the motivation to keep going!
Totally logical mindset… but sometimes it can bring us right back to where we started if we restrict ourselves too much!
An easier approach is to let your body do the genius work its designed to do. Your body is very intelligent and given the right nutritious kind treatment, it will detoxify naturally.
Juices and smoothies are a great way to incorporate a lot of goodness in one hit. Striking a balance is key to a lasting health regime. So it becomes an automatic part of our every day and not a ‘diet’ that we’re waiting to end so we can eat food again!
Here are some foods that help your body naturally detox
- Enter the Green Juices and Smoothies! Although it’s hard to live off these entirely on their own, making them part of your balanced lifestyle is a great idea as we gotta get those green veggies in – every day! Green vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, green beets, kale, spinach and many others, contain chlorophyll which helps eliminate toxins and help the liver naturally detox. Mix in limes, apples and lemons can make them taste great, try experimenting to get the taste you love!
- On that note, Lemon is a particularly great aid for liver detoxification. Try starting your day with lemon and ginger and warm water before you have breakfast. The Ginger is also a great antioxidant and helps rid toxins as well as being a great immune system booster!
- Something a little more relaxing – try an Epsom salt bath. Relax for 20 minutes knowing you’re also drawing out toxins and increasing circulation!
